Back in the Saddle

A Blog Named Hero is sponsoring a challenge called If I could Turn Back Time. Besides causing people to sing that Cher song over and over again in their minds, they are challenging us to create a card with a Shabby Chic or Vintage look.

I am on a roll right now with my newest Inkadinkado stamp set called Horses so I created another horse card. My image is stamped onto a a piece of cardstock that I had originally glued a piece of burlap to. Unfortunately when I stamped on the burlap, the image was blurred, so I tore it off of the paper. It left some of the paper intact and some of it was torn. Then I had a light bulb moment and I decided to stamp on the decidedly distressed piece of cardstock. I loved the end result! The image is soft and blurred in areas and sharp and crisp in others.

To further enhance the vintage look I roughed up the edges of the diecut paper and then sponged them with Tim Holtz Tea Dye ink. And of course I added my newest trick of creating a leather look out of Kraft paper.

My favorite part of this card is the little silver star on the raffia twine. It reminds me of a sheriff’s badge from an old spaghetti western.

I will be entering this card into A Blog Named Hero challenge called If I could Turn Back Time. You have 12 days left to play along for a chance to win a Simon Says Stamp gift card!
