Life is a Circus

Circus Card

Life has been kind of like a 3 ring circus around here lately. I have three major events happening over the next few months. We are moving our store location which involves an entire renovation of the new building we purchased, as well as the colossal move of our 3500 sqft showroom. Our son James is graduating high school and   I am throwing him a big bash for his graduation/US Army enlistment party. And then my “little boy” will leave for Basic Training one week before his 18th birthday. (sniff, sniff)

So playing around with some cute and whimsical images really helps me to tune out the persistent voice in my head that keeps saying “Aaaaah, I’ve got so much to plan and not enough time to do it in!” Because the reality is that I am a planner. I love to plan, write and complete lists and I usually get what I need to get done in plenty of time because, I am a good planner. But I am also a worrier (so many of us are) and it’s the worrier who won’t shut up, so I shut her up by distracting her with crafting. LOL

I bought another TPC Studio stamp set at Tuesday Morning last week. This set was only $1.99! After I masked and stamped the scene I cut the image into 5 panels. Each panel was then mounted onto white cardstock with just a small space between each one and then I clipped the  corners with a 1/2″ circle punch. Somehow the paneled effect gave the whole card a more vintage look, which I really like. As a final touch I added glossy accents to the ball and the stands.

I am entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge and also into A Blog Named Hero Free Style #22 challenge.

You Make Me Smile

The rainbow colors are so bright and happy, they make me smile too! I have been trying to hone my Clean and Simple stamping style and I think I am getting a bit better at it. Browsing all of the other cards from entrants and from the Girl Fridays really helps.

The Ferris Wheel is from TPC Studio, Summertime Boardwalk and the sentiment is from the $1 bin at Michael’s Craft.

Don’t Go, by UFO!

I created a second card this morning using my new Rockets and Rayguns stamp set by TPC Studio. For this card I decided to feature one of the adorable aliens in the set along with the UFO that is included too.

Rockets and Rayguns

After I stamped the stars in Versamark ink and clear embossed them  I colored over the top of them with a yellow alcohol marker. Next I stamped the UFO and then the alien and clear embossed them as well. In order to create the tractor beam I masked off the area I wanted to be yellow with two strips of paper and releasable adhesive. Then I sponged it with my Distress Ink.  I used the reverse of that to sponge the purple and I just used caution when I sponged near the UFO since I hadn’t masked it off. The sentiment is stamped first with Hero Arts Neon Green ink and then stamped again in Staz On black.

Everything was looking pretty good but, the card just wasn’t as cute as I imagined it would be. But then, I added a heart shaped brad and googly eyes and I think that did the trick.

I doodled in a few aliens into the flight deck of the ship before covering it with Glossy Accents. 🙂

TPC Studio Rockets and Rayguns

I finished my card that gave you a sneak peek on yesterday. It features a really cute rocket-ship from the  TPC Studio Rockets and Rayguns, stamp set. This set was a steal at Tuesday Morning. I paid $1.50 for the set and I will more than get my money’s worth out of it!

I wound up going back over the light blue background with some Concord Grape Distress Ink to make the sky appear more like space. Once the ink was dry I splattered it with water to create the lighter circles you see in the photo. And finally I stamped the sentiment and then mounted the image onto the card.

It was very hard to capture a photo that showed the true color of purple on this card. The color is brighter and lighter in person.
