Oh, Tannenbaum!

Posted on

I used a freebie stamp from the Alley Way Stamps to create a card for their Be Inspired #7 challenge. I love their super cute stamp sets! But, I am broke as a joke and I can’t afford to order a stamp set. So….I am hoping to win one!

I colored the trees with my Prisma Color pencils, cut them out and then glued them onto a 1″ paper circle. I added a paper rosette to hide the gaps between the tree points. The sentiment frame is from Stampin’ Up and the sentiment is another freebie from The Alley Way Stamps.  There is still plenty of time to play along if you’d like.

I am entering my card at The Alley Way Stamps Be Inspired # 7 Come and Play challenge.

Wish me luck!

The Alley Way Stamps Christmas in July

Posted on

The Alley Way Stamps (TAWS) is hosting a Be Inspired Challenge based on Christmas in July. In order to let those who may not own any TAWS stamps play along, they offer some freebie images on their blog that can be used. These three little trees are one such set!

The sentiment I used on this card is a vinyl rub on from EAD Designs‘ Christmas Sentiments 2 set. I really loved how sturdy the vinyl is and how easily it transferred onto my cardstock.

Here’s a close up of the card I made using a free image from The Alley Way Stamps. I coated the trees in Glossy Accents after coloring them with Prisma  Colored pencils blended with Gamsol.

As you may have guessed I am entering this card into the BE inspired Challenge #6 Something NEW challenge .

Happy Stamping,

Let Freedom Ring

This is a group shot of most of the cards that I made for my nieces and nephews and 2 of my friend’s kids. I try to send a card with either stickers or a $1 bill in it to my N & N’s each holiday. It’s a fun way to keep in touch with them and the kids get such a thrill out of getting mail too.

I used my Imaginisce Crab and Imaginisce Whale stamps for some of the cards. For the sailboat card I used the Stampin’ Up Sail Away stamp set and I hand wrote the sentiment.  The star for the card in the front center was hand cut and I added a button that says Liberty on it. (I have no idea where this button came from because I’ve had it for eons!)

Nothing says American summer more than sweet, delicious

crustaceans and pyrotechnics!

I hope you have a whale-y good time this 4th of July!

For my 12 year old nephews (My sister Nancy has 3 boys all 12 years old!) I wanted to create something a little more mature but still festive. I used the Sail Away set from Stampin’ Up to make this card. I hand wrote the sentiment with a white gel pen.

(FYI my walls are not green. I took these photos at night and the pendant lights that hang above my kitchen island are green. The lights don’t make the walls look green to the naked eye but the camera captured the green light that pendants must  cast.)

Happy 4th of July,

One Good Thing Leads to Another

I won this adorable snail from one of Birdie Brown’s Blog Challenges. He comes as part of a set called Spring Bugs. In a effort to create something fun and whimsical I colored his shell in a rainbow pattern.  The rainbow colors made me think of Peace, Love and Harmony a’la 1970’s hippie tie dye! And that led me to this sentiment from the Pursuit of Happiness collection from Stampin’ Up.

After I pierced the holes around the snail the card still looked a little plain and I was stumped as to what I wanted to add. Then I looked at this week’s Put a Bling on It challenge over at CAS-ual Friday’s and I knew just what to do. I think the rainbow colored jewels are the perfect addition for this card.

I will be entering this card in the following challenge: CAS-ual Friday’s Put a Bling on It CFC55

Here is a closer look at my groovy sentiment.

A Blog Named Hero Card

Posted on

I created this card before I left for work this morning for the Dust ‘Em Off challenge being held at a Blog Named Hero. I don’t have a lot of Hero Arts stamps but, I had recently purchased this stamp and thought it would be perfect. It is called Woodland Critters and this is the first card I have made with this stamp set so be on the lookout for more to come!

I used Prisma Colored pencils and Gamsol blending solution to color the stamps. The background is sponged using Tempting Turquoise from Stampin’ Up and I cut a scrap of green paper to make the fringed grass at the bottom of the card. I’m not sure if you can see it in the pictures but, the butterflies are sparkly and the mushrooms have dimensional spots!

The challenge ends on May 25th USA time so get your entries in soon.

Happy Stamping,

Happy Birthday Simon

Posted on

It is Simon Says Stamp’s 3rd birthday. And to celebrate they are offering a chance to win a $50 gift voucher to their store or a month of May Card Kit. Either prize would be awesome! You can join the fun and enter a card to win at Simon Says Stamp.

So I have made a card to submit for the challenge. I used a free digital image of three adorable puppies. I am sorry that I can’t remember where I originally got this pups from but, if I remember I will update this post.

I hand stamped the purple paper for the background and I used a upcycled sentiment from an old birthday card I had received last year.
