Try to Fold a Trifold Shutter Card

The card I am featuring today is a trifold shutter card. You can find a great tutorial here on how to cut and fold this card. It really is a simple design once you see how it is done.

Yeti, Set, Go

I featured a lot of different stamp sets on this card but, the two adorable Yeti creatures are from Yeti, Set, Go by Lawn Fawn. And the balloons are from Up and Away by Mama Elephant Stamps.

Yeti, Set, Go

This Yeti is wearing a crown from the Hats Off to You, stamp set from Lawn Fawn and his friends are wearing party hats from the same set. And the birthday cake is actually a sticker rather than a stamp. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that this is a mixed media project but, I do think that incorporating stickers now and then can give your cards a little something different.

I forgot to take a photo of the card when it is closed but, here is a look at the card when it is opened wide. Many people also add decorative paper to some of the panels. You know me and my less is more approach, so I just doodled some confetti and called it a day.

You really should give this card shape a try. It is just a matter of a couple of cuts and a couple of folds.

I am entering this card into the Lawnscaping Challenge: Critters Galore

Hats Off to You, Grad

Posted on

My good friend Kim’s daughter, is graduating High School in a few days. Her name is Katie and she is brilliant, beautiful and super sweet. Katie received a full scholarship to USF and she deserves every bit of it.

I made a fun card for her. She has an infectious smile just like the little Yeti on the card. (the Yeti is from the Lawn Fawn stamp set Yeti, Set, Go)

The school’s colors are Green an Gold, so I colored the mortar board accordingly. And I drew a little diploma in the Yeti’s hand. For the background of the card I used the mortar board from Lawn Fawn: Hats Off to You stamp set. The Yeti is mounted on a green circle that is mounted on top of two die cut stars. For further definition Ilined the edge of each star point with a deep green marker.

Iwill be entering my card into the Lawnscaping Challenge: Create Your Own Background

Congrats to all of the soon to be grads and to all of their happy, moms and dads!

A Pack of Party Animals

First off I want to draw your attention to the Yeti’s hairy little chest. Doesn’t the Fun Flocked fuzziness just make you smile? I bought several jars of Fun Flock when it was on clearance at a local craft store a year or  so ago.  And I finally opened some of these colors for the first time yesterday.

This fuzzy jar of fun is so easy to use. Just apply a thin layer of glue to the area you want to flock and then shake some of the flocking onto it and press lightly. Tap off the excess flock and return it to your jar. Avoid rubbing or touching the flocked area for a few hours to allow the glue to dry.

Yeti, Set, Go

Of course I added some Glossy Accents to my card too. It wouldn’t be a Card by Mo unless it had some element that was covered in shiny goodness. (Each Yeti’s tongue is covered in G.A. too)

Lawn Fawn Yeti, Set, Go

I don’t often create cards that aren’t the A2 size (4.25″ x 5.5″) but, I wanted to create a rainbow effect with the Yetis and I need  more paper space to do that. I colored the little monsters with Copic markers and I stamped the balloons with Hero Arts Neon stamp pads. The Yetis are from the Lawn Fawn set; Yeti, Set, Go and the balloons are from a clear that I have had in a zip lock bag for so long that I don’t remember where I got it from or what it’s called.

This is my final entry into the Lawnscaping Challenge, Dust Em Off.

Happy Stamping,

Christmas Tag with a Feminine Twist

I created an adorable tag to play along with the Ellen Hutson challenge

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2013.

Lawn Fawn Yeti

I was inspired by designer Kelly Alvarez’s Yeti tag and so I made one of my own. However, I went ultra feminine by using tons of pink on my tag. Pink paper, pink trees and pink snow. And I added a  dash of sparkle on the pine trees too.

The Yeti is a stamp from Lawn Fawn but, I added the handwritten banner that the Yeti is holding.

There are still six more days to play along for a chance to win an Ellen Hutson gift card. Join in at Ellen Hutson’s 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2013
