Magical Birthday Wishes

I have been having fun with my new Critters Ever After stamp set from Lawn Fawn. The little magical animals featured in the set are so cute! This first card features a Unicorn on a pathway of sparkly stars. (My 15 yr old daughter Sam went gaga over it, so I must be doing something right) The sparkles are all thanks to various colors of Stickles gels. I put an extra coat of Glossy Accents over the Stickles once it’s dry. That prevents the any loose glitter from falling off.

Unicorn on Star path

This next card features a Dragon,a Griffon and a Castle! Perfect for a Potterphile like me. I have a Har Repotter stamp from Bugaboo Digital stamps that I may try to pair with these images down the road. But for now I just featured them in front of a forest of hand scribbled Pine trees with a sky full of doodled balloons. I doodled a cobblestone path too but, when it was done I realized that it needed to be larger in the foreground to create the proper depth perception.  And when I enlarged it you could see where I added on to it on either side. Luckily the recipient of this card will likely be age 10 or under and that age group tends to be “big picture” types who will overlook my artist shortcomings. 😉

Castle Party

This last card features a pair of star crossed lovers. Although they are both cold blooded and both are mythical, I wonder how they would really fare in a relationship. (Care for frog legs, anyone?)But love conquers all they say.

Dragon Loves Frog

I was on a doodling kick last night and so I added in some grass and hand drawn flowers to my scene. It has been quite a long time since I have added my own elements like that. I tried to use a card making technique that I hadn’t used in a long time so that I could enter one of these cards into the Lawnscaping Challenge: Dust Em Off

Live a Little. It’s Your Birthday!

The sentiment I used for this card is from a Fiskars clear stamp set called Make a Wish. The quote is credited to Abraham Lincoln but, I don’t know that he really said it. It reminds me of this photo joke that has made the rounds on the internet…

But either way I do like the jist of the sentiment. Who wants to live to be 100 if you are just sitting around for the last 20 or 30 years of that life? I think we should enjoy the time we have, while we have it. That is why I made a Bucket List. So far all I have checked off on the list is “Make a Bucket List” because, I am too busy living to sit around making a list to check off before I die. 🙂

Anyhow, I created another birthday card for the Simon Says Stamp: Happy Birthday Challenge . I have a very large extended family so I make lots of birthday cards each year and this challenge is helping me to get ahead with that task.

I created another wood look background paper using my scoreboard and Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Inks. Just score the paper at random widths for random lengths and then sponge on your brown ink.  A quick stamp of the sentiments and flowers on a die cut shape and my card was just about finished. I mounted the sentiment on some dimensional stickers and then added the blue pearls to finish it off.  The whole card only took about 15 minutes from start to finish.

Happy Stamping,
