My Craft Room Brings All The Boys to the Yard

We are in our new house now. And this is the house that I swear that I am not leaving for the rest of my life. And so I have begun to set up my craft space in earnest. This space is about 45 sqft smaller than my last craft room and the closet is A LOT smaller. So everything really has to be neat an organized now.

First I  started by creating a new storage system for the metal frame dies that I have. I used Ikea Bygel rails and baskets for my ribbon and bakers twine. And I used Fintorp magnetic knife racks for the dies. They are all mounted on a scrap piece of plywood that is screwed in to the wall.

When I moved into my new craft room I had a spinning stamp pad holder. I worked well but, it took up a lot of space and I wanted more space efficient storage. My husband Jeff got me a belated Christmas gift of stamp pad and paper punch storage racks from Stamp-n- Storage.  You can see them on my desk in the photo below.

We added some peg board above the desk to create shelves were I could see and access all of my wood mounted stamps. (I painted the pegboard white and stenciled some flowers on it to make it prettier.) My colored paper holder on the bottom left side of the photo is from Stamp-n-storage too. And the revolving clear stamp holder is from Hobby Lobby. I love the easy access it gives me to all of my clear stamp sets.

I have had my desk tops for 6 months or so now. They are just two old doors that came out of the building we purchased for our flooring showroom. One desk sits on legs from Ikea and the other is on top of two Alex 5 Drawer units from IKEA. The drawers are a great way to add more storage space in the room without taking up space of their own.

The quintessential IKEA piece that so many crafters have is the Expedit Shelving Unit. I have had mine for two years or so and I recently added some doors and drawers to it too. The doors are perfect for hiding my clutter and the drawers are great for storing my glitter and marker refills.

I am very lucky to have an entire guest room dedicated to my crafting hobby. But even if you have a corner of a living room or a section of a dining room I think that you can incorporate some of the items that I have to make your space even more efficient.
