One Good Thing Leads to Another

Posted on

I won this adorable snail from one of Birdie Brown’s Blog Challenges. He comes as part of a set called Spring Bugs. In a effort to create something fun and whimsical I colored his shell in a rainbow pattern.¬† The rainbow colors made me think of Peace, Love and Harmony a’la 1970’s hippie tie dye! And that led me to this sentiment from the Pursuit of Happiness collection from Stampin’ Up.

After I pierced the holes around the snail the card still looked a little plain and I was stumped as to what I wanted to add. Then I looked at this week’s Put a Bling on It challenge over at CAS-ual Friday’s and I knew just what to do. I think the rainbow colored jewels are the perfect addition for this card.

I will be entering this card in the following challenge: CAS-ual Friday’s Put a Bling on It CFC55

Here is a closer look at my groovy sentiment.

Birdie Brown’s Blooms

Torico shared this great digital image of a Stitched Rose on her blog. She is sponsoring a challenge that features this image. You have a chance to win one of her adorable digital images too!

I used water colors to paint the petals and the leaves. After I printed the image out 4 times I cut out the layers of petals to give it a little more dimension. For the leaves and the card I used my Martha Stewart Scoring Board and bone folder to create the embossed features. The sentiment is from the Stampin’ Up set called Pursuit of Happiness. And lastly I used my Smooch Spritz in color vanilla to coat the petals and leaves in a sparkly blanket. However, I can’t get the darn thing to spray well so I squirt some on my plastic table and then paint it on with a brush ūüôā

I will be entering this card in the following challenges:

Card Making Mamas: Challenge #45- May Flowers

Birdie Brown’s Stitched Rose Freebie Challenge

and Lawnscaping’s Embossing Heat or Dry #34 challenge

Man, I’m getting all competitive this week! It’s good to be in the craft room again after taking a few weeks off due to my Mom’s broken hip. I just didn’t feel very creative for a while there but, my mother is home and doing well in her recovery, so I feel like making cards again.

Happy Stamping,

Ladybug Party Tower Birthday Card

Posted on

Recently I purchased a new digital image from Pink Cat Studio called Ladybug Party Tower. I loved the expression on their little Ladybug faces and I thought they would be even cuter with googly eyes. Everything is cuter with googly eyes!

¬† These guys remind me of the circus bugs from the movie A Bug’s Life.

This is real 3 ring Flea Circus kind of acrobatics here!

I made two versions of this card last night. One for my father -in-law¬† who is turning 69 this Saturday and one for¬† my former father-in-law (and children’s grandfather) who is turning 80 on Friday .¬† I’m not sure that they are really into ladybugs but let’s face it, they’re guys, the barely look at their birthday cards anyway.

I am entering this card at CAS-ual Fridays for their first birthday challenge, at Lawnscaping for their Clean and Simple challenge and at Simon Says Stamp for their 3rd birthday challenge.

Happy Birthday Simon

It is Simon Says Stamp’s 3rd birthday. And to celebrate they are offering a chance to win a $50 gift voucher to their store or a month of May Card Kit. Either prize would be awesome! You can join the fun and enter a card to win at Simon Says Stamp.

So I have made a card to submit for the challenge. I used a free digital image of three adorable puppies. I am sorry that I can’t remember where I originally got this pups from but, if I remember I will update this post.

I hand stamped the purple paper for the background and I used a upcycled sentiment from an old birthday card I had received last year.

Happy Stamping,

Teeny Tiny Cake Boss

Posted on

I recently purchased a few digital images from Birdie Brown on Etsy. One of which is an adorable little chef. I paired the image with some stamps from my Gina K. Candles on Your Cake set to make a whimsical birthday card.

¬† This little guy reminded me of Buddy Valastro of TLC’s Cake Boss. (If you put a rockin’ mustache on Buddy that is.) And the size of the spoon made me think that this must have been a monster sized cake! So I went with a birthday cake inspired theme in honor of Buddy.

I am going to submit this card for the Lawn Fawn Inspired By Challenge.

Happy Stamping,

To Gnome You is to Love You!

¬† I duplicated the baby gnome digital stamp¬† from Pink Cat Studio for this card. I wanted one gnome to stand out from the rest because the inside sentiment reads, “You’re One of a Kind”. The orange gnome is also the only one covered with Glossy Accents so he is nice and shiny.

This is an older version of the card above. You can tell that I colored this one before I got my Copic Markers! Stamp markers just don’t blend very well.

This is the Lulibell & Friends digital stamp from Pink Cat Studio. I sponged the clouds on with a Stampin’ Up Sponge Dauber and Tempting Turquoise ink. I made the grass by simply cutting little strips on the top of the paper with a pair of scissors. I actually impressed myself with my cloud making abilities. (LOL)

These two are dear friends. And they are friends with deer too! I used the same sponging technique as above to make the clouds and I used Smooch Spritz Vanilla Shimmer to give the whole background a bit of sparkle!

These cards are some of the few cards I have made recently using Prisma Color pencils. I like the translucent quality the pencils gave the colors in this images but. I was painfully reminded that blending the pencils with gamsol and paper stubs really makes my hand cramp up! (Years ago I had surgery on a tendon in my thumb and my right hand is arthritic at times because of it.)

This card is my favorite of the bunch. No matter how much I try, I can’t seem to move away from clean and simple cards. I craft like I live my life; straight forward and without a lot of fluff. However, I do like a little bit of bling now and again so I added some little pearls to every other heart.

A Chance to Win to a Set of Letraset Markers!

SJ at Little Musings has a really cool owl digital image for free. What is even cooler is the fact that you can win a set of Letraset Markers just for coloring this adorable owl and uploading it here at the Letraset blog !

So give it a go! Like I did.

Don’t Eat the White Snow Either!

I got a great idea and a free digital stamp from http://www.whimsiedoodles.com/freebies.html

There are only 3 more days of school left until the Christmas break and I was planning on making these for my daughter Sam. So I got busy last night cranking these out! I was going to make some for my teenage son James too, but he said “Oh yeah, gifts that say ‘you’ve got bad breath’ for my friends”.¬† Oh well…that is just more for Sam’s friends!

Outside of card. Inside of card.

One Cool Cat

Posted on

This cool cat digital stamp is from Hambo stamps and yes it is another free stamp. You have got to love the F-word!

I made this for my nieces birthday so I made the card very girly and youthful. About a year ago I had purchased a crimper on sale at Michael’s and I just now got around to using it. I definitely will be using it again because I think it came out really cute. The paper flower was another clearance item that I snagged at Michael’s awhile back. All I did was finish it off with a self-adhesive gem.

Fall Fun

This little cutie is another freebie from Torico.I tried to add a little more panache to my card this time by adding two different patterned papers and the scalloped edge. But it wasn’t until I added the tiny buttons that I felt the card looked finished.

Autumn is my favorite season of the year and this scene makes me wish summer was over already.¬† I am a typical Floridian…I can’t stand the heat in summer but the winters here in North Florida freeze me to the bone…I would be happy to¬† have just a spring and a fall each year.¬† Maybe I should move to Hawaii! If only!
