Your Youth?

Posted on

I know you have all been waiting with baited breath (or maybe you were just barely breathing) to see the card I created for my friend Kim’s 50th birthday. So here it is….

This is another free image from the Graphics fairy. I loved the expression on this woman’s face. She just looked, to me, like she was asking a question. That’s when this sentiment popped into my mind.  I stamped the background with the number 50 and some stars (from Gina K’s Candles on Your Cake) and then I added some turquoise gems because the card still looked kind of plain at that point.

I know I’m tooting my own horn here (but let’s face it only about 5 people actually read my blog posts) but, I think this is the best skin coloring I have done to date. I used Skin White from my Copic Ciao markers set and I just added more of the same color for the shading. My favorite part of the whole card though is the pearl earring I added at the last minute. It’s the little things that sometimes make me happiest.

I will give Kim her card on Saturday night when we go to Evelyn’s house for a Stampin’ Up Make and Take event.

Funny Fiftieth Birthday Card

Posted on

My good friend Kim is turning fifty this Tuesday. I wanted to make a personalized card that had a smart alack edge to it. The Graphics Fairy has tons of  fabulous free images  and I came across this great image while scouring her site. As soon as I saw this classy gal with a fist full of dollars I thought of the sentiment I used.

Kim has a great sense of humor and would get a kick out this card. However, I found an even better image on the GF blog that I will use to finish a card for her tonight. Stay posted for that one.

I am entering this card into the CAS-ual Fridays: CFC65 Square Cards challenge.

And I am posting this on the Graphics Fairy Brag Monday #149 link party.

Teeny Tiny Cake Boss

Posted on

I recently purchased a few digital images from Birdie Brown on Etsy. One of which is an adorable little chef. I paired the image with some stamps from my Gina K. Candles on Your Cake set to make a whimsical birthday card.

This little guy reminded me of Buddy Valastro of TLC’s Cake Boss. (If you put a rockin’ mustache on Buddy that is.) And the size of the spoon made me think that this must have been a monster sized cake! So I went with a birthday cake inspired theme in honor of Buddy.

I am going to submit this card for the Lawn Fawn Inspired By Challenge.
