Way to go, Dude!

Posted on

I created a congratulatory card for the latest CAS-ual Fridays Challenge. My Rad set from CAS-Fridays is still so new to me that it kept called out for my to ink it up again. So that is the set I used it to make my card.

CAS-ual Fridays Rad

I also used an older alphabet set from Stampin Up for the U R in the center of the card.

First I stamped the black in on the sentiments and then I stamped them again with the neon orange  and green ink from Hero Arts. And for the final touch I added Glossy Accents to the U and the R to give them a little more punch.

On a unrelated note I wanted to share with you a photo of a little visitor who hopped by my craft room when I was making this card.

Bunny Rabbit

My cats had a field day staring at this rabbit through the sliding glass door. I think that the rabbit saw them too since he sat frozen like that for about 3 or 4 minutes before he finally turned tail and ran.

My mother lives around the corner from us and she has seen rabbits in her yard recently too. Of course my mom being the worrier that she is, has already expressed concern that we may become overrun with rabbits. I say “if they kept the lawn trimmed, let em breed”. LOL

Anyhow, I will be entering my card into the CAS-ual Fridays: CFC103 Congratulations Challenge.

Dude, That Card is Like, Totally Awesome! :)

My comment was chosen as one of the winners for the CAS-ual Fridays new stamp set, release/Blog Hop two weeks ago. I was so excited to get my hands on another one of their awesome stamp sets. (I already own 8 Happy Nights) For my prize I chose the stamp set Rad.

Rad Stamp Set When I was a kid my friends and I used to crack each other up by talking like Valley Girls. So, I think that I will have a fun time mixing and matching the totally, awesome words from this set, dude!

I made this card for my nephew Sam, who is turning 11 in June. Sam doesn’t talk like a surfer or a Valley Girl but, hopefully he will get a kick out of this epic card.

In order to create the neon paint splatter (very 1980 something) I used my Hero Arts neon inks and some Copic Clear Blender. First I pressed some ink onto my plastic table mat and then I added just one drop of the blender. Next I dabbed my paint brush in and then I just flicked it at the card.  The end result reminds my of the J. Geils Band video for Freeze Frame. YouTube it. If you were a kid in the 80’s you will remember how awesome it was to have your MTV.

Next up is a more polished card using the same set and neon inks.

I only had a chance to make two cards with this set before I had to leave for work this morning but, I plan to play around with it more tonight or tomorrow.

I will be entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Anything Goes.

A big thank you to Michele at CAS-ual Fridays for her generosity, inspiration and totally awesome stamps!

Happy Stamping,

Mo

This is the June digital freebie image from The Alley Way Stamps. I thought this sentiment was perfect for someone who was struggling in life at the moment. That is why I featured the big fish swimming upstream. Because I think at times we have all felt that way. Like we were just *ahem* just treading water. The polka dots add the extra touch of whimsy this card needed. I don’t have a polka dot stamp so I hand doodle the dots. (Not too shabby for freehand)

I am entering this card into the The Alley Way Stamps Be Inspired #5 Challenge and also into CAS-ual Fridays CFC56 Sweet Spot Challenge.

If you want to play along at TAWS and you don’t own any Alley Way Stamps you can grab one of their freebies and craft away. To play along at CAS-ual Fridays you just have to create a card featuring Polka Dots.

Happy Stamping,

Mo
