Stellar Stella Cards

Posted on

Stella Tidbits – Still Hot Inside sentiment: if flashes count!

I won these images from Bugaboo Stamps as a prize from a challenge at Digi Darla’s. There were so many Stella and Gus images that I would have like to gotten but alas, my prize was 7 digis so I chose 5 punny images and two cute ones not featured here.

Stella Tidbits – Grain of Salt Inside sentiment: and a shot of tequila.

I made this as a birthday card for a friend but it could easily be  an encouragement card too.

Stella Summer Blocks – 5 o’clock No inside sentiment

Stella is a cranky old lady who is the creation of Jodie from Bugaboo Stamps. Stella has a “no holds barred” sort of attitude and she enjoys a good laugh at other people expense from time to time.

Stella – Perfect Man Inside sentiment: He’s living in San Fran with his boyfriend.

I just had to get this image for a birthday card for my niece who is single and living in San Francisco. It made me laugh out loud when I saw it and hopefully it will do the same for her.

All of these images run about $3 apiece. Which is a steal compared to rubber stamps! Plus with digital stamps you can change the image size and cut and paste to your heart’s desire. If you haven’t tried digital stamping yet I encourage you to just jump in a give it a go.

I am entering the Still Hot card in the Catch the Bug Challenge : Photo Inspiration Anything Goes. Why not join in for a chance to win some great Bugaboo stamps yourself?

Happy Stamping,

Teacher Appreciation

Posted on

I used a Bugaboo stamps digital image to create this teacher appreciation card for my daughter Sam’s math teacher. The math equation stickers have been in my scrap booking stash for years, so I don’t remember where they are from. I used Copic markers to color the little boy and to add the Y for Yulee Middle to his shirt and I added a little bling to feminize the overall feel of the card. The sentiment is hand written with a white gel pen. Hopefully her teacher doesn’t know that the next verse of this childhood song is “No more tables. No more chairs. Push the teacher down the stairs”!

Ah….the good old days….when my friends and I would chant this song at the start of every summer vacation.

I made another card along the same vein for Sam’s science teacher. You can see that I used different stickers that have more of a science theme. Ms. Nowlin has fish in her classroom and loves Marine Biology so I had to stick the fish tank on there too!

I am entering the top card in Digi Darla’s Challenge DDC #13 “Let’s Celebrate!” & a DT Call and also in Simon Says Stamp’s Anything Goes challenge.

Here is a close up of the sentiment. I just wish it looked a little more like chalk.

Three Clean and Simple Birthday Card Ideas

Although, I have been working on a few more cards this week, I hadn’t had time to post them yet. We have actually been busy at work lately! Which is a relief since the end of 2011 was very slow for the flooring business.

I would say these cards all fall into the cutesie category. And they are all birthday cards too.

I stamped the giraffe clear stamp images onto plain white cardstock and then colored them with Copic Markers. At first the card seemed kind of “blah” but then, I  put it in an embossing folder, and ran it through my Cuttlebug. The texture made it so much more visually appealing.

As I am posting this picture I am realizing that it is kind of plain looking too! Guess what is going to get the Cuttlebug treatment when I get home from work today. However, I do love how the cake from the Candles on Your Cake set, from Gina K. Designs came out. I don’t remember the name of the stamp set that the monkey clear stamps came from. (It is one of the first stamp sets that I bought back in 2010)

Every Friday I check out the Bugaboo Stamps blog to see the Friday Freebie available that week. Then I download the stamp and let it sit idly by for weeks and weeks. It is just a matter of simple math really. 6 days of work per week + 2 kids + 1 husband + a 2100 sqft house to clean = not enough time to stamp!

Yesterday I finally got a chance to mess around with this cow image that I downloaded last October. I digitally cut out the sentiment and lightened it to make it look like I used the, stamp off method, to create a background stamp.  And then I digitally layered the image by bringing the cow image all the way forward. (I do all of this in a Word File because I am to computer illiterate and too software poor to do anything fancier) Some ribbon and a heart button later and…voila a CAS card!
