Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head

When I was a kid I loved that old song by Burt Bacharach….Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head. It was just such a catchy tune. And every time I color this image by Torico of Birdie Brown it makes me think of that song.

I have been having a lot of fun using the Honeycomb stamp from my most recent Paper Smooches stamp purchase. The stamp set is called Geo-Graphic and it includes a polka dot stamp, this honeycomb and a chevron stamp.

The main image is a digital stamp from Birdie Brown. The characters that Torico (Birdie Brown’s creator) draws are always so adorable. You should consider visiting her blog to see more of what she has to offer and you can join in her monthly challenges by using her latest free image.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

I am loving the weather here in North Florida right now. It is 72 degrees with blue skies and sunshine. Too bad I am sitting indoors here at the flooring showroom my husband and I own and operate. But at 4 o’clock I will be fininshed with work and I will be my 1 day weekend! (Every weekend is a 1 day weekend for us because we work at our store 6 days a week. Just one of the many perks of being your own boss. Not!) Anyway the point is that I love Spring and the beautiful weather that comes with it.

Hero Arts and a few other blogs are hosting contests for Spring Cards so I made the following card to enter into a few contests.

This is a Birdie Brown digital stamp. I colored it with Copic markers and used paper piecing for the umbrella. The ribbons are just strips of colored card stock with a V-notch on the end. I gave the paper some bend by rubbing it with a pencil and then I glued it in spots to create a raised ripple effect. The clouds are just hand cut from watercolor paper scraps.

I took a close up photo of the puppy and chick so you can see the black glossy accents I used to give their eyes some dimension.

Here is a closer look at the faux ribbon effect I created with the card stock strips. I simply held the paper against the side of a pencil and apply pressure as I slid the pencil barrel down the strip of paper. This created a soft bend in the paper and made it easier to glue the paper in a wavy pattern.
