Gratitude with an Attitude.

Posted on

My daughter Sam needed some thank you cards for friends that had given her Christmas gifts. I wanted to make something feminine, yet young and fun. Here is what I came up with.

I stamped this butterfly over some gold and ivory patterned paper and then I stamped over that with green ink on a plaid patterned heart. The green rhinestones add that little bit of bling middle school girls love.

This card was for Sam’s friend and  fellow band student. I thought that the musical score (from Stampendous) was a cute tribute to their shared love of music. It is hard to see, but I added purple gems to the scalloped flowers too. The plaid patterned heart can be see on the pink band.

I used a wood grain stamp that I bought at Michael’s Crafts  a while back to stamp the heart shapes I cut out. The stars on the pink band are from the Midnight Feast set from Waltzing Mouse Stamps.  Although the stars come from a Halloween stamp set, they look great on this card too.

I sometimes make more involved and ornate cards but, clean and simple cards are my favorite. These types of cards are quick and simple to make but  the results are still so pretty!

B is for birthday.

My mother-inlaw is named Bonnie so I thought it would be cute to make a card with a big B on the front. The B would represent her initial but would also tie to into my sentiment inside which says “is for birthday!”.  I cut a capital b out with my cricut and used it for the base on which I would place my quilled paper. I also used my cuttlebug to emboss a border on the top and the bottom of the card. The quilled portion took about an hour to complete.

Upcycled Fun.

Every spring and fall at our store we receive advertising kits from Mohawk Flooring to promote their bi-annual anniversary sales. These flowers were part of this year’s spring promotion. They were too cute to throw away so I decided to upcycle them into art. It was difficult to cut them because the plastic was very thick but luckily the shape above the flowers was precut to follow their form. I used clear pop dots under several of the flowers to give them a 3d look without having to see ugly white dimensionals underneath.

Pink Cat Studios has the cutest digital stamps. These are some more of the gnome family digis. I colored them with prisma colored pencils and blended the colors with gamsol and blending stumps.
