Recently one of our good friends, who also plays poker with my husband, turned 40. He is the last of our group of friends to do so and so it really was a big deal.
I had seen a card in a crafting magazine a year or so ago that featured a big poker chip on the cover with the words “50 It’s a Big Deal”. Although it was cute, I knew I wanted to feature a hand of cards as well as poker chips.
I cut out the numbers using Paper Trey Ink By the Numbers die and By the Numbers Mat die sets. I cut out the wider mat set a second time in gold to give the 40 a little more sparkle. The chain of circles is stamped in a shiny gold ink to add even more glitz.
I snagged a couple of images from Google images to create the Royal Flush hand of cards and the poker chips. In order to make the playing cards pop up, I simply cut two vertical slits in the center of the card and then pushed the cut portion forward from the back of the card.

The sentiment was created using individual letters from a Martha Stewart clear alphabet stamp set.
If you haven’t attempted to make a Pop Up card before, you really should try. This card is a good illustration of just how easy it can be.
Happy Stamping,
