Fly Away, with Papertrey Ink Stamps

Hello! I sneaked in a few hours this weekend to create some cards with a few stamp set that I got for my birthday in August. The sets are from a company called Papertrey Ink. They have the cutest stamps sets and matching dies!

The set I am featuring in this post is called Fly Away and it is a mini set that sell for $5. I also purchased the matching die which was $7. Although the die cost more than the stamp set, it was worth it. Having the matching die means no “fussy cutting” which means no finger cramping or aggravation of my Carpal Tunnel.

hey buddy I made this first card for Operation Write Home. My intention was to create something for a soldier to send home to his/her little boy.  Both the banner and the airplane are stamped and die cut from the Fly Away set. I created the background paper by sponging over a cloud that I hand cut from cardboard. Once the sponging was finished I stamped the word hello with with Versamark Champagne ink. And lastly I stamped the border.

CAS-ual Fridays has a challenge going on right now called She’s Krafty and She’s Just My Type.

I created this card to play along. The sentiment is from another Papertrey Ink stamp set called Whale Wishes.  In order to create a waving banner look I just bent the stamp as I placed it on my acrylic block. Next I sponged around my cloud die again but, this time with a coordinating color so that the whole card stayed neutral. I wanted the red of the airplane and the banner to really pop off the card.

For my last card I decided to cover the entire background of the card with the sentiment. It looks good but, I have to admit that it was quite a bit of repeat stamping!  I sponged on the clouds right over the background text.  Just like I did for the last card, I stamped the sentiment for the banner and then hand cut the banner.

I will be entering my Kraft paper card in to the CASual Fridays challenge CFC113 She’s Krafty and She’s Just My Type. You have until Sept 5 if you want to play along.
