You Are in my Heart

Posted on

I wasn’t going to post until this evening because, usually Saturdays are very busy at the flooring store that I own and operate with my husband, Jeff. This Saturday however, has been more like a scene out of the hilarious Micheal Keaton and Henry Winkler movie Night Shift. (Well…before they decided to run a prostitution ring out of the morgue they worked in that is.)

I played along with the CAS-ual Friday Challenge: Hunger Games this week.  And no, we didn’t need to feature two young people fighting to the death on our project. Which is a good thing because, I don’t think I have any stamps for that. The challenge was to create a clean and simple card that features an arrow in some way. Much less gory and more likely that I would have a stamp or two that I could use.

However, I didn’t have any arrow stamps. But as luck would have it I found a adorable set of clothespins at TJ Maxx for $1.99 on last night. One of the clothespins featured a bright red arrow. So now I had an arrow and all I needed was an idea.

Bear with me as I take you on my creative journey. When I think of arrows I don’t think of deer killing, super weapons. No, I think of “You are Here” signs in malls that direct me to the closest Aunt Annie’s Pretzels. And lately all I have been thinking about is our son leaving home for the Army. When he goes my heart will be heavy. That’s when the idea hit me to create a card that illustrated the fact that he would always be in my heart.

Creativity is a weird and wonderful thing!

I heat embossed the you sentiment with clear embossing powder before, sponging the heart with Worn Lipstick and Barn Door distress inks by Tim Holtz. The top sentiment is created from Stampin Up ABC-123 OUTLINE ALPHABET & NUMBERS and the Here sentiment is from Mama Elephant’s Flashy Letters.

I am entering this card into the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge: Hunger Games. You have until July 2nd to play along too.
