I began creating cards in earnest, for Operation Write Home, within the last 6 months. Our son James is leaving for his Army boot camp training in less than 6 weeks and his enlistment reinvigorated my interest in making cards for our troops to use. Every time I read one of the soldiers posts about how grateful they are to receive our handmade cards it makes me that much more committed.
In order to play along on this weeks Midweek Throwdown at Operation Write Home, I have created a card that features water in some way.
The little sailboat is a digital image by Birdie Brown and the sun is the inside of a life preserver image from the same set. I just fussy cut the image to look like a cartoon version of the sun. The seagulls are hand doodled and the waves are just blue paper cut with wave shaped scissors. And finally the sky features Tim Holtz Distress Inks in the color Broken China.
I gave the boat some dimension by cutting the sails out from several copies of the image and then stacking them up. The top layer of the sails is curled a bit on a pencil and then just the outside tips are glued to the sails below.
I hope this picture helps illustrate what I am talking about.
Happy Stamping,
Mo
Great minds think alike! I used the same digital stamps on my card! I love the way you created the sea on your card.
LOL I commented on your card too! 🙂
