Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog is celebrating its’ 4th year. So they are hosting a birthday celebration and giveaway. To be entered to win one of their awesome prizes (1st prize is a $100 S.S.S. gift card) you must create a birthday or celebration card and link it to their blog.
Here is one of the cards I made for the challenge…
I used my Tim Holtz Distress Ink color Broken China to create the blue background for my cupcakes and sentiments. I covered each cupcake with a stamp mask before sponging on the blue color. After the ink was dry but, while the masks were still in place I splattered the paper with water. The ink spreads away from the water and creates a distressed look.
Once the paper was completely dry I stamped my sentiment twice, once with black ink and a second time with Hero Arts Neon Green. Finally I die cut the shape. The white die cut shape is actually hand cut because there was no “in between” size with this die set. That is a pet peeve I have with a lot of the Spellbinders sets. There are too few sizes in each set.
The brown, wood looking base is created by scoring the paper at random lengths and intervals, then sponging on a dark brown ink and then die cutting the shape.
