I am a firm supporter of recycling. Whether that means donating items we don’t use anymore, recycling plastics and such or up-cycling objects into something new. For this Halloween card I used the back of a factory made birthday card I received last month. The color of the card inspired me to create the following Halloween card.
I used my skull and crossbones die to cut out my image from felt. The texture reminded me of the flocked cards and stickers I loved so much as a kid. I used Hero Arts, Clings Bat Background stamp with Versamark and dark blue embossing powder to create the background. The banner is from Recollections and I heat embossed it in green. I added the red gems for the eyes to give the skull a little more presence. Now the skull reminds me of something out of an Indiana Jones movie.
The orange Ombre of the up-cycled card really did provide a great backdrop for my card and I saved it from a landfill!
I am entering this card for the CAS-ual Fridays CRC69: Embossing challenge.
Happy Stamping,
Mo
Mo – what a great Halloween card! I love the felt skull with the red eyes! Thank you so much for playing along with us at CAS-ual Fridays!
I have never die cut felt before but, now I can’t wait to try some other shapes and colors.
Way to go, Mo! We are what I like to call “militant recyclers” in my house, too, so I love to see things given a second life on cards. 🙂 Your felt skull with the red jewel eyes is so cool, too! Thanks for sharing this with us at CAS-ual Fridays!
Your up-cycling is so clever! Great colour combo and those red eyes are just too spooky!
